A Perfect Dog-Friendly Day
Harbour Morning
Start early at Whitstable Harbour before the crowds arrive. Watch the oyster boats unload their catch. Grab a coffee from a harbour hut and walk along the South Quay. The smells of the sea will have your dog nose twitching in overdrive.
Lunch on the Beach
Head to the Old Neptune (The Neppy). It's one of the few pubs in the UK located directly on the beach. If the weather is fair, sit outside on the wooden benches. Order the fish and chips, and relax while your dog digs happily in the pebbles (keep them away from the Groynes!).
Tankerton Slopes
Walk east towards Tankerton. The grassy slopes are perfect for ball throwing if the tide is high. If the tide is low, walk out onto "The Street" - a natural shingle spit that extends 750m out to sea. It feels like walking on water!

Whitstable Tips
- • Oyster Shells: Be careful! The beach is made of shells and can be sharp on puppy pads.
- • The Neppy: It gets incredibly busy at sunset. If your dog is anxious, go for lunch instead.
- • The Street: Check tide times carefully! It disappears quickly as the tide comes in.
